Overview

The branch of dermatology has evolved immensely over the years and alongside the Department of Dermatology at GAIMS, Bhuj has grown by leaps and bounds.. Advanced equipment’s and techniques are being used in the diagnosis and treatment of the patients.

Counseling and Outreach Programs: Apart from the counseling of daily out- patient and their relatives on a daily basis, the department organizes public awareness campaigns in form of day celebrations like World Vitiligo Day (25th June), World Skin Health Day (8th July), World Leprosy Day (30th January), World Psoriasis Day (29th October), etc., by enlightening the mass gatherings regarding the taboos and myths of these skin diseases, it's prevention and spread.

Scope

Diagnosis and treatment of various dermatological (like tinea, scabies, eczema, acne vulgaris, alopecia, psoriasis and other papulosquamous disorders, melasma and other pigmentary disorders, pemphigus and other vesiculobullous disorders etc.) & venereal diseases (syphilis, genital herpes, other genital ulcer diseases) leprosy, HIV/AIDS in OPD on daily basis. Aesthetic and Cosmetologically procedures for acne scars, scar revision, rejuvenation are also carried out regularly in the department.

Indoor patient management for autoimmune connective tissue diseases, papulosquamous & vesiculobullous disorders, leprosy and lepra reactions.

Bed side investigations like KOH for fungus examination, Tzanck smear for vesiculobullous disorders, slit skin smears & ZN stain for Acid fast bacilli.

Managing dermatological emergencies like Stevens Johnson syndrome/ toxic epidermal necrolysis, adverse cutaneous drug reactions, acute urticaria with angioedema, erythroderma etc.
