Overview

(A) GOAL

The broad goal of the teaching of undergraduate students in Obstetrics and Gynaecology is that he/she should acquire understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the reproductive system and gain the ability to optimally manage common conditions affecting it.

(B) OBJECTIVES

Services

a. SCOPE-

The following services are being provided by the department on a daily basis

Specialty clinics:
Infertility and Reproductive Medicine:

Infertility workup, treatment including ovulation induction, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and Intra uterine insemination are done.

Maternal and Fetal Medicine:

High risk pregnancy clinic provides care for maternal medical disorders including Hypertension, Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, Respiratory and Renal.

Women are provided with genetic counselling, screening and testing, i.e. non-invasive (biochemical and ultrasonographic)

Menopause and Cancer screening:

Health education, screening for genital malignancies with cytology and video-colposcopy.

Adolescent Reproductive Health:

Services for girls with reproductive health problems such as Polycystic-Ovarian Syndrome, primary amenorrhea and reproductive tract infections.

Family Welfare and contraception services:

Contraceptive services with short term, long-acting reversible contraception and permanent contraception (Laparoscopic and Minilaprotomy female sterilization)

Medical termination of pregnancy in the first and second trimester by medical and surgical methods is provided as well as
